Estudio Matiz | Parador Málaga Gibralfaro
High on Mount Gibralfaro, beside the castle and overlooking the bay of Málaga and the Mediterranean, the Parador de Málaga Gibralfaro is a truly unique setting. Its stone walls, historic arches and exposed wooden-beam ceilings give every room a character in which the passing of time becomes part of the décor.
Against this backdrop, the interior design by Estudio Matiz starts from a single idea: to let contemporary design dialogue with the history of the building. Working with a palette of natural materials and an understated, timeless elegance, the studio focuses on comfort and functionality to create warm, welcoming spaces without overshadowing the original architecture.
Within that balance, our rugs play a key role: they add a layer of warmth and texture that softens the stone and helps define each space. Terra Kalahari Oat Sea, a flatweave with a fine stripe in oat and blue tones, dresses the seating areas beneath the great arches: a serene, luminous base that withstands the intensive use of a hotel.
Aral 01, in turn, with its geometric texture in blue and cream, defines the more intimate rooms; its relief creates depth and rhythm, echoes the ceramic blues and the wood, and adds that tactile, welcoming touch that invites you to linger. More than decoration, both rugs delimit and structure each space, bringing texture, comfort and wellbeing.
